Farm training coming to Mora Feb. 4

The University of Minnesota will conduct 2008 Beef Cow/Calf Days Feb. 4 through Feb. 15, 2008, in 10 locations around the state.

The closest training session for Chisago County residents is in Mora Feb. 4, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Fish Lake Resort

Presented by the University of Minnesota Extension Beef Team, the program is designed to provide beef producers with current information about new technologies and issues facing the industry.

Each location will feature a customized program tailored to the needs of producers in that part of the state. Also included at every location are core topics of interest statewide.

Core topics for this year's program are current updates on industry issues, grazing management strategies, heifer development and calf weaning management -- what do the feeders want.

The registration fee is $25 per family or farm. Registration is required at least one week in advance with the site coordinator.

Mora man to live free for a month in radio promotion

Red Rock Radio Stations WCMP-FM and WXCX-FM, Pine City, are pleased to announce that Tim Olson of Mora is the winner of their huge holiday contest, "Live Free for a Month."

As the grand prize winner, Olson will have his house or rent payment, his car payment and utilities paid for a month, and he also gets $300 in groceries from Grantsburg Family
Foods.

Olson's name was drawn on the morning of Dec. 27 by radio legend Mike Hughes and Red Rock Radio - Pine City Market Manager Ron Revere. Olson was one of nearly 100 finalists. Listeners could qualify by registering at participating businesses in Minnesota and Wisconsin and then listening for their name to be read off on the air.

Chamber luncheon features Chisago County EDA

The Jan. 8 North Branch Chamber of Commerce luncheon will be presented Chris Eng of the Chisago County Economic Development Authority.
