Teen Technology Center being developed in Mora

Posted: 9/28/05

A Teen Technology Center and Study Lounge are being developed at the Family Pathways building in Mora. The lab will include five ìmodî computers that are being built by 10 students under the direction of Josh Carlson from CMC Tech.

These computers are probably not like you have at your office or in your home. The kids are designing cases with colors and designs and open sides with multi-colored fans.

The lab will also have five refurbished computers for a total of 10 systems, all connected to the Internet as well as to the new Mora Youth Intranet system.

Future plans include the addition of music mixing, graphic arts and robotics.

The adjacent Teen Study Lounge will offer snacks and areas for doing homework or visiting with friends. The teen center project is a collaborative effort among Family Pathways, Lone Pine Community Center, DREAM Girls, CMC Tech, and Kanabec Systems.

The kids are looking for black computer monitors to use with their ìmodî computers. If there are any businesses or individuals in the area in the process of changing monitors and have black ones to donate, the Teen Technology Center in Mora would be happy to have them.
